Catarena Cathcart RBT is the Kindergarten Cubs Teacher as well as the Curriculum Coordinator at Strong Foundations. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Science in Integrated Elementary and Special Education from the University of Hartford in 2019 and is a Registered Behavioral Technician as of March 2020.
Catarena began at Strong Foundations in 2016, during its first Summer Social Club Program. Over the years, she has worn several hats and worked in multiple facets, supporting the growth of Strong Foundations, through the development of a center-wide curriculum, organization of activities for students and parents as well as different protocols used by all of Strong Foundations families and staff. Outside of Strong Foundations, Catarena has had field experiences in inner-city and suburban public schools working with children diagnosed with autism, behavioral and social challenges, as well as various learning disabilities. Catarena strongly believes that everyone has the right to learn and that no one is unteachable, and that it is her job as an educator to find ways to teach all students.
Outside of work, Catarena loves traveling the world. Most recently she has studied abroad in New Zealand and has visited Spain, England, and France. She is known for her love of pineapples, Disney and loves spending time with her closest friends.
