Patricia Szafir, LCSW, received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She then continued her education and obtained a 6th Year degree in Education Leadership from Central Connecticut State University. In 2013, Pat received a Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Intervention in Autism from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The CT Department of Public Health certifies her as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as well as by the CT State Board of Education in the area of Intermediate Administration and Supervision and School Social Worker.
For nine years, Pat was the Assistant Director of the CREC River Street Autism Program. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Mrs. Szafir participated in parent meetings and provided support & resources to families as needed. She helped with the coordination of generalization training, in the community, through ongoing field trip experiences for students with Autism. Pat initiated a mentoring program between high school students and students from the Autism program. She also further developed an integrated preschool program and obtained & monitored the accreditation process. In the Windsor Public Schools, Mrs. Szafir provided direct counseling services to students both individually and in group settings. She facilitated a monthly parent support group for families with children with special needs. For 12 years, Pat maintained a private counseling practice. She worked with children, adolescents, and adults in providing both individual and family therapy.
Pat is committed to empowering others by building on their success and expanding positive experiences. She values the input and active participation of families so that each child can reach their full potential.
In her free time, Pat enjoys biking, hiking, and kayaking. She resides with her husband in Ellington, CT, and has four children and three grandchildren. Pat is often taking & sharing pictures with others.
